Bach@Colburn

New Release!

About the album:

Tesserae Baroque is pleased to announce harpsichordist Ian Pritchard’s latest release, Bach@Colburn. Recorded in the sublime acoustical space of Thayer Hall at the Colburn School of Music in downtown Los Angeles, this disc is an innovative all-Bach recital that includes the artist’s own improvisations as well as a reframing of the Prelude and Fugue in A Minor BWV 894 as a solo keyboard concerto (this work was later converted into the Triple Concerto for Flute, Violin, and Harpsichord by Bach or one of his contemporaries). The program also includes two beloved Bach suites: the fifth French Suite in G Major and the sixth Partita in E Minor. The recital is recorded on the artist’s personal instrument, a copy of the 1624 Colmar Ruckers by American builder Earl Russell, to whom the disc is dedicated.
